Seems like a lot of C4's have had the distributer replaced. How do they generally fail and what are the indications it is going bad?
There has been allot more Opti's blamed and changed than than there were bad ones!!:rofl1::rofl1::rofl1:
They can act all kinds of crazy,Pop,Fart,Backfire,Run till warm and just shut down,Run crappy till warm and then run perfect,Run perfect cold and then run crappy after warm,as in all electronic components they can do all sorts of weird things!!:shrug01::shrug01:
In several 100,000 miles and 100's of customers vehicles,I've only replaced 3 Opti Sparks!!
1 From Collision Damage!!
1 From Green Slime growing in it!!
1 Broken off screws in the rotor,and then I broke a tap off in it and Slung it up the side of the Mountain!!:lmao:
I've mostly found bad or corroded connections where the opti was blamed for the problems!!
Connections at Fuses,Wiring Plugs on ECM,Ignition Module,Coils,Opti Harness and Plug!!
I've ended up changing several Coils,Ignition Modules,Opti Harnesses,Opti Cap's and Rotors!!
If I'm changing out a water pump,I'll always check out the opti and usually replace the cap and rotor button as preventative maintenance!!:thumbsup:
