Well, it depends.... When I went to the LG Motorsports X-pipe, I went to the 3 inch pipes, which definitely deepened the tone. Supposedly the X-pipe reduces the motorboat burble of the H-pipe crossover influence somewhat, and is supposed to be better at balancing out the exhaust output between the two banks of cylinders. Not sure the gases actually flow better but I would guess the transfer of gases from one side of the exhaust to the other would be easier with an X-pipe. Or if the X-pipe alone being the same diameter of the H-pipe would be deeper toned.
There are a lot of variables here to be considered. For instance, diameter of the pipes, all the way from the tubes coming off of the cylinder heads, to the collector, on back, can change the power band substantially. Even the lengths of those primary tubes can make a difference. Problem is, they all pretty much mean a tradeoff somewhere. In other words, gaining something here, but losing something there..... Changing your exhaust system really shouldn't be taken lightly, and you should try to understand all aspects of what will happen afterwards.
