Fall/Winter 2024

Drive careful if you go. Hate to hear of you going sideways on the icy roads.

I think I hate the salt slush more than either snow or ice, for the damage it is doing to my vehicle. I will NOT drive in the salt belt during the Winter months.

We get the truck washed every week anyway and we're allowed to have it washed twice a week if need be, so really no harm done. But we get a new truck every three years anyway.

We have about 4 inches of snow so far. Tried to post a picture but it keeps saying file is too large.

Gotten down into the low 20s the last 2 nights. Supposed to be a relatively warm 30 degrees tonight. Looks like a warming trend is coming...... Finally....

Feels like the way Florida SHOULD feel with temperatures. Very nice weather lately.

This week was the worst we have seen for Kentucky and Tennessee in the past three years that we've run this route. They have been very liberal with the salt/chemical applications on the roads though, so no complaints there other than it makes a mess of our windshield. We got a couple inches of snow overnight on Monday.
We saw several crashes still as many people have little respect for the conditions and pretty much drive like they're on a race track. Back home in Georgia now and it's windy and cold but not like the 15 degree wind chill last night in Nashville. It was pretty chilly in Orlando today. Spring is just around the corner though, we have buds on the Peach trees already.

Heck, I will NEVER drive up into any area in the Winter months that puts salt on the roads to combat ice and snow. That crap will eat the hell out of your vehicle, and I certainly don't want that to happen to any of my rides. Heck, when I moved down here from Maryland, I had to replace the gas tank in the Bronco because it had rotted out from the salt. Salt and rust go hand in hand.

Oh yeah, 30.9 degrees here right now. So much for the "Florida like" weather....

It looks like our highs up here are stuck in the 50's for the next 7-10 day and lows in the 30's. But with us going to Kentucky every week and seeing all the snow and ice, I'll be happy and count our blessings. I'm seeing snow all the way down to Montgomery today and flurries just north of where I live. I saw a picture of the beach in Florida yesterday that was captioned, " I know it was hot when I said those things Summer, and I'm sorry. Will you please come back?" Kolkata ff
Haha, this weather really has everyone missing summer! Staying in the 50s isn’t too bad compared to all that snow and ice. That Florida beach caption is too funny—totally relatable! Hope things warm up soon, but enjoy the cozy vibes while they last.

No cold again this year. Nothing near 32f for years. I have coconuts growing up here now that you would have never seen in 1980. Just unreal how warm it is dry it is here now. Going on 7 years of no rain.

When life gives you Lemons, err, grow Cactus's? Sorry.....

Yeah, I know. This thread started in 2024.

Well here in north Florida for the last few years we have had notable cold spells come through. Last year we had a memorable ice storm that took down power lines. My citrus trees would argue pretty strenuously against winters getting warming. Lost several, and some of those left are really struggling, only to have yet another cold blast cause them more damage.

Quite frankly, I am thinking that whatever steps the government(s) are taking in response to this pap about global warming is pushing us into colder winters.

We moved up here to Georgia a little over five years ago. Since then the Winters have been colder than normal and the first winter it got down to 15 degrees. It killed the Satsuma tree. In January of last year it snowed 8 or 9 inches, getting into the teens again, and the big Lemon tree had a graft failure, resulting in the fruit being inedible. Then more snow again in January, although not nearly as much. The rainfall has been normal for the area up until the past 3 or 4 months, but that seems to be getting back to normal now. Fortunately for all of us the hurricane season was not an issue last year. We will see what the future brings, but I have to say, I'm glad that Winter is over.
