I am a car freak and a vette lover, and I was lurking in the background after scouring different vette forums. I joined this one after determining it to be the best!
I am located on the Spacecoast in Cape Canaveral, which has to be one of the best places to own and drive a vette.
I recently purchased a 2005 coupe, auto, Z51, new Firestone RF's, and a new battery, from the original owner, a friend of mine, with a little less than 30k miles.
This was the second car I bought from him, the first being a 2000 BMW Z3. That car, although very nice, didn't meet my expectations, and I sold it in less than six months. At that time, his second car was a Bently turbo which he also sold. He has since acquired a Lambo Gallardo. All of his cars were kept under a carport.
The vette was his "beater" as he called it, and he ran regular gas in it. (must be nice $$$$)
Anyway, this my 6th vette, (previously owned 65 vert, 67 coupe, 60 roadster,85 coupe, 86 vert) and of course I wish that I still owned each of them (Jay Leno I'm not).
Since buying this one, I have claybarred it, and I am adding LUCAS additive with each fillup. It seems to be running pretty well, although I want to replace the sparkplugs. I have been reading the forum about exhaust, air intake systems, etc, etc. No decisions yet.
I did find a leaking rear shock and I bought a set of Bilsteins, but haven't installed them yet.
The vette currently spends most of its time covered up in the garage as it is a third car for me and the Mrs., and I have a company car to use back and forth to work.
That will change in May when I retire and join the ranks of the old guys.:yesnod:
I hope to put some miles on the vette and meet some forum friends.
Thanks for a great forum.
