My 2000 has had a check engine lite on for a year...Says the voltage is too high on the IAC....Runs fine and the mileage is as good as it was before... I love my C5 but it makes me appreciate my 85 with much less electronic garbage on it...

Bob,

If you can, post what the codes are, and make it easier for people to assist you.

Hi,

First of all I have no idea what these mean. Bit thought that I would post what each code says incase someone cab help.

P0172 Fuel Trim System Rich Bank 1

P0175 Fuel Trim System Rich Bank 2

P1518 PCM to TAC Module Serial Data Circuit

By the way..... :welcome: . Glad to have you as a new member.

did you do any mods recently that might have triggered these codes? Have you tried resetting the codes to see what ones come back?

I haven't done any mods on this car..the only thing out of stock that I see is it has a K&N air filter..I have reset it once when there was only 2 codes in the computer they were P0172 and P0175 which these came back after only 20 minutes of driving it.As far as the P1518 that is a new code that just showed up 2 days ago.I also wanted to let you know how this came about as I was rounding a corner I stepped down on the gas and an alarm went off on the dashboard and the dashboard was flashing a message at me that said reduce engine power.I pulled the car over to the side of the road and the motor was still running but stumbling violently.I shut the motor off waited about 30 sec.and when I turned the engine back on the engine light was showing on the dash and the motor was running smoothly like nothing had happened. I will go out and reset the computer and I will let you know if any of the codes come back. Thanks again Bob

You say it has a K&N Airfilter, have you cleaned the filter and then reapplied the filter oil recently? Too much filter oil can mess up the air sensors. You might want to check those and clean them anyway.

When I purchased this vette in December I was told then that the filter had just been cleaned.I haven't checked it ,I will check it myself and clean the sensors. Thanks for the suggestion.I will pull it into my shop monday and do that. Thanks Bob

One of two things comes to mind.
Your filter is dirty or when the filter was cleaned it was put in before the oil sprayed on the filter was dry.
If not completely dried the oil will get on the wires in the maf.
Dirty maf wires will give false readings to the PCM.
The maf is not reading the air passing through correctly and adding fuel giving you the rich fuel trim codes.
Remove the maf and clean the wires with a q-tip and alcohol.
