I recently drove 900 mile one way to pick up a Viper driving an F150 pulling an enclosed car trailer. It took a lot of fill up to get a car that uses a lot of gas. The price of gas has not affected my driving but I'm still pissed about it when the oil companies keep making record profits.
 
although my business is Import Performance car parts you'd think that the higher price of gas would kill me...07 was my best year...which would lead me to think it doesn't have much to do with gas prices. luckily im very lucky and work from home, in turn not driving everyday...as long as the fridge is full, the ups man picks up everyday and i don't really have to leave. i don't have to have a car, but like many of you...we have more then one. until gas is like $100 a gallon, no one will take away my right to get in my corvette and row it through a few gears. there is no better stress relief/freedom then acceleration and speed. as the price goes up...everyone will feel it more, but at this rate most of the guys who can afford vettes won't really care either way.
 
Again, it's not affecting my driving, but it pi$$es me off to hear of them raising prices because " there's fog in the channel they run the tankers out of" or "they predict OPEC will cut production". That's CRAP!:mad:

How much do you pay for a gallon (3,78 L) ?

In Germany, the gas price is....well....at an actual 1,399 € per LITER!

These are 5,29 € per gallon ~ 7,75 $ for a gallon.

I guess we just top your prices :D

I don't understand that either. My brother lives in London and the gas there is around $8.00 a gallon. Why? Isn't the UK closer to the middle eastern oil producing countries than we are? Don't they have refineries in Europe?
 
Probably most of the sales prices are taxes and nor really cost related. Speaking of which, quite a bit of what WE pay is also taxes on the gallon as well. If the gov were so all fired concerned with stimulating the economy and give the working stiff a break, I think rescinding all the fuel taxes would be a BIG help.
 
It´s right that most of the costs of gas in european countries are taxes.

The homepage of the gas station provider OMV decrypts the price:

69 % are taxes for the german government
26 % procurement costs
5 % costs of the mineral oil concerns

Nevertheless, driving a V8 engine or just big V6´s is luxurious for " John Doe".
If it wouldn´t be a passion or a dream, I know much better ways to burn my money.
 
I don't like it when they raise prices for the week of school break that we just had. They'll raise it again come summer when the vacations start. Don't like any of it, but it is what it is. I bought my Vette because I wanted a Vette! Miles per gallon, cost of gasoline, comfort of the ride, and other considerations were secondary. The same is true for my daily driver here in Massachusetts. I've got a 95 Crown Vic, and I have it because I like the ride and comfort I get in it. I prefer a big car, and with that comes lower miles per gallon, but I'm not ready to give my butt over to some fuel efficient little "ring-dinger" that rides like a buckboard and has seats like wooden boxes with a bit of foam on them, and a console that hits my knee because I can't push the seat back far enough. I just pay the bill and go on. I don't have enough days left on this planet to get all riled up over the prices and how they change. That part of it is out of my control. The part of it that is still IN my control ain't gonna change for a long time. I get to Florida about every 6 to 8 weeks, and when I'm there, the Vette IS getting driven! I'll pay the price, and smile as I cruise down the road away from the gas station! GAWD.......I love that car!

If you guys had to pump gas every other day like I do, you'd change your tune REAL QUICK!!!!!!!! The higher the price of gas, the less money I make and that is all around bad for the economy and ME!!!!!:thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

I already told my boss that no more long trips without compensation because of it. More then two a week and I'm billing the company. It's ridiculous and worse because I live in Palm Beach Co. which has some of the most ridiculous gas prices anywhere. I still see $3.49 a gallon for regular gas in Boca Raton and this is before the recent spike. I assume most people are in the same boat I am in and since gas is so
g0dd@mn expensive, people are spending their money on gas and not on other things like new cars, restaurants, etc. I spoke to an investor who is a customer of mine that told me anything over $19 a barrell is profit so wtf do the oil companies think they are charging $100 a barrell?! It's ridiculous.

The 'vette pretty much only comes out now weeknights to fancy restaurants and clubs and on weekends.....that's it.:thumbsdown::thumbsdown::thumbsdown:
 
Well, the truth of the matter is that the oil companies know that those who NEED to drive really can't do a damned thing about the situation. And realistically, unless you live in an area of easy access to public transportation, or can carpool everywhere, that pretty means most of us.

Seriously what CAN you do about it?
 
We could take to the streets and riot and protest like is done in other countries to get s#!t done......or like we used to do in this country in the old days to get s#!t done.......but we've been castrated beyond repair in this country so...............:shrug01:
 
Well, you're obviously older than me, Jim. I can remember paying 35 cents per gallon for my '66 GTO...... Of course, that was the high priced Sunoco 260.
