I was sellling a ZR1 to a person who is 500 miles away from me. They needed to ship the car. I told them it would cost 1500 to get it to him. He said no way he can get it cheaper. This is how a $160,000 left my dealership... PLEASE COMMITT.:lmao::lmao::lmao:

$160K? Sheesh, how did you land that fish, er, customer? Over $40K over MSRP??? :eek:

In any event, I would have driven it home myself. But I guess this guy is going to park it in a garage and put plastic over it like many people did with the C4 ZR-1s hoping he bought an investment. Yeah, maybe it will be in 30 years or so....

We had it listed on ebay at 140k. He called us and ask what would it take to remove it off of ebay for he could buy it... Remember this words "There is an ass for every seat..." LOL
 
How many of those cheap tires blew out on the delivery? Eccentrics....so the rest of us can believe we are normal!

Insinuating that someone who just paid you 160K is nuts does not seem like very good business. That being said, putting it on an open, dilapidated trailer is just plain stupid......HUTCH:thumbsup:

I should get in the "cheap" car transporting business, I've got a 16 foot tandem trailer and an 18 foot gooseneck along with a one ton crewcab...at least I'd put mudflaps on my truck.
 
Some people aren't content to just be born an asshole.........they HAVE to prove it to the rest of the world on a daily basis.

The lettering on the side of the tow vehicle was blurred but it might have been Burlington, NJ. Porter Chevrolet is in Newark, Delaware, which is just northeast of Rising Sun, Maryland. Based on the dealership being in the Mid-Atlantic region and the tow vehicle being from NJ, my guess is that the car is going to be somewhere in the northeast. Either NJ, PA or NY.

My only thought is if I was the selling dealer I think I would have tried to accommodate the transportation in the negotiation of the selling price. Ok, so maybe there would have been a few less profit dollars on the deal. With a deal at full list plus 40K there was plenty of room to split the transportation cost and avoid any potential problems with the shipping. If this car has some sort of road damage from stones or debris, this clown will try to lay it off on the dealer even though it would be his own short sightedness that caused the problem. My point is, anyone crazy enough to pay $40k over list for a ZR1 is a nice client to have, and keep, on your customer list. Because if he was willing to go 40 over on this deal, he would be willing to do something similar again on whatever the next high dollar/high profile car comes out from GM.

Just my opinion.

I could not agree with you more. First of all, the car might only be going 100 miles more or less. Not a big deal.
Second of all, I would treat this customer with kids gloves. Stupid or not, he just spent $160K at your dealership. He should expect better customer service.
By the way, I use a similar trailer and tow my '06 from New Jersey and back each year. I put a bra on and have no problems with bugs.
As far as dings go, what's the difference whether on the trailer or doing 70 mph on I-95 or I-4?

And when I worked at dealerships, the salesman's commision was 25% of the profit....I would have asked what color transporter the guy wanted and sent him a dozen roses and a bottle of champagne to boot!
