On Saturday afternoon, between 5-8pm, a small group of us usually get together at Insty Lube (Andreh's shop) on North Dale Mabry Highway for a little gathering.

We usually leave there and go to the 4 winds. Some head to setzers because thats about the only show in town and some go...well....we really don't know where???

How about this?

Lets meet at Andreh's and afterward, move the party up to the MacDonalds on North Dale Mabry and Ehrlich Road. Either there or the MacDonald ON Ehrlich Road at Turner (where the Albertson's used to be).

The latter will offer tons of parking since Albertsons vacated the area, there's a KFC/Taco Bell and McDonalds there along with a Pizza place, Chinees restaurant and I think another but I cant recall?

There's also a BBQ place right across the street (Alex's).

And I know the management pretty well af Md's there and my daughter works there. Might give us an "in."

Much better lighting too.

A little side...we're likely to attract some of the traffic headed to & from the setzers show right down the street:lmao:

So...What say ye Oh Gypsies in the Palace?

I was thinking the one on Ehrlich Road west of there by ther old Albertsons. Nothing at all in the parking lot and plenty of places to eat.

We can do the one on North Dale Mabry though if you like?

How about the rest you you? Any preferences between the 2 or we can do one this week and one the next time and see what we like the best?

im ok either way. i talked with my brother n law who is with suncoast z car club he said theyre club would be interisted in meeting with vette club and f body club, they would love to get a real cruize night going also.
my 2 cents no hula hoops allowed

I don't see a problem with it personally. Just depends on whether we want to keep this meet a vette only thing or not?

As I mentioned in an earlier thread, I've been working on another cruise night that will be open to any and everyone:thumbsup:

The other thing we have to concern ourselves with is management and insurance:(

Target ran Setzer out of the BK poarking lot on DM.

Me, I'd suggest keeping this Corvette-only, and I'd also suggest trying to keep it associated with a restaraunt. It's just a lot pleasanter if you have a place to get cold drinks, hit the john, etc. I doubt a lot of room is needed, as I doubt we're going to get all that many cars on any given week. 10 or so at most? Or maybe I'm being pessimistic.

Is this really so formal as to need "management", whatever that is, and insurance?

If we want to keep it "vettes only" it's cool with me. Things can and do sometimes get out of hand in an uncontrolled environment when some of the ricers and such show up (nothing against the Z club...I love those cars!!!!).

And those mullet wearing F-body guys..... (read further before you throw things at me:lmao: ).

I probably won't be there much of the time though as my vette has no top currently and leaks like the Titanic. It usually sits in storage while I try to get parts to make it look decent again.

I could make it in my Z28 or I could show up in the Elephant chaser just to hang with friends.

Thats what I usually do at Andreh's on saturday afternoon. A lot of time I come straight from work or some other function where I didn't have the vette and didn't have time to go get it since it's not my DD. As Jim can tell you, I just park it off to the side and go hang out. Wouldn't want to ruin the "ambiance";). I actually do the same thing at a lot of Corvette functions for the same reasons and sometimes because I have 2 people with me.

Anyway, we can certainly do that though if you like. Set up whatever restrictions you guys want, it's ok with me:thumbsup:

No, absolutely not as far as I'm concerned.

Unfortunately, if a group of auto enthusiasts begin "hanging around" in one of the shopping center parking lots without going inside and sitting down at a restaurant or such, many of the establishments have begun calling the Sheriff's Office and asking them to leave. It really depends on how many people show up, if anyone shows thier colors *(burnouts, bustin' balls through the parking area, etc.), managements view of hi performance car owners and the centers policy on loitering.

I've seen groups of individuals removed from parking lots that where doing absolutely nothing other than sitting by thier cars and talking. Some even after buying a burger or such and taking it back outside. One place even told thier "customers" they could buy thier burgers but could not eat by thier cars. They had to sit inside or leave????

Some of you may recall Checkers was this way. After the Setzer show was over at 9 or so, he'd announce that everyone had to clear the lot and they would start ushering folks out. After a while, the S.O. would come in and move people along and then they would make another "sweep" about a half hour later. If you remained in the area, you were threatened with tresspassing charges.

Target (good old USA supporter:rofl1: ) was instrumental in having Ronnie removed from the Burger King parking lot on North Dale Mabry as well. Seems they felt the show was taking up too many of thier valuable parking spaces and inconviencing thier customers??? At the time we were attending there were ALWAYS more than sufficient spaces close up for the patrons and there was NO INTERFERENCE:NoNo:

Fact or fantasy, they succeded and off the show went to another venue:(.

If there's only a few, it stays resonable and there's no incidents, then it'll probably never be a problem:thumbsup:

I was just thinking ahead...sorry...

Insurance? depends on whether it ever got big enough and became a sponsored thing or not?

I'm working all those details out on the bigger cruise in I've been planning as previously mentioned, but that one will be more like Setzers, with music, a reserved lot, etc. We're likely going to need insurance for that. It's a matter of who will provide it? It looks like my sponsor is planning on doing that:thumbsup:

BTW, the weather reports are not looking all that good for this afternoon:( Do we still want to plan on it with the holiday and all and play it by ear, or do we want to wait until maybe the first weekend after new year?

Ya;ll make the call. I have chit to do....later....:wavey:

Brad, tell your brother in law to hold that thought:thumbsup: I'd love to have them at the event we're working on for the start of the new year!:dancer01:

Well, I didn't mean "Vettes only" as in, don't show your DD around here, and indeed I like F-bods almost as much as Vettes. I was an F-body guy all my life until I bought this car. I just thought the whole point was to be Vette-focused. Otherwise how is it different from the existing cruise spots?

To tell the truth it doesn't matter that much to me. I'm more of a driver than a cruiser, if you know what I mean. I just liked the idea of an informal Vette gathering.

So why not work with an establishment that LIKES cruise events? Quaker Steak and Lube would have us, no problem.

Well, if it's going to be off I hope someone will say so. It's a long-ass drive for me.

I know what you meant bro. And I agree that we need to keep it a vette only event rather than makihng it an open show kind of thing.

My lifes pretty hectic:( I like the cruises because it gives me a chance to relax with friends, exchange some ideas, laugh, joke, check out new mods, the works:thumbsup: Driving is definately a plus but theres just getting to be less and less places we can "drive" without risk. If you're talking about a cruise type drive like to some location or the 5 bridges run, then I'm all about that too:thumbsup:

Steak and Lube would probably do it, but most of thier nights are already filled except weekdays.
As I mentioned in my other post, an open cruise in is in the works with a large chain where crusin' started:thumbsup:

Haven't heard one way or the other. Just walked in the door, have to feed the grand kid and gonna head back out. Might drop by just to see if anythings happening. If not, maybe nesxt weekend?

Have we picked at place yet???

Gang:
Have we picked a place yet for Saturday Night?....Should we meet at Andry's as normal at 5:00pm or so as always....... and then decide?:shrug01:
