Passive Keyless Entry Help

I have a 1996 Corvette with Passive Keyless Entry ... the system had been touchy - basically worked when it wanted to ... I changed the battery and now it won't work at all ... is there a trick to reseting the system after a battery is changed? Also, this may be related ... when I open the driver's door the interior lights do not always turn off and sometimes the radio does not turn off but when I open the passenger door it turns the lights on and the radio off consistently. Any info would be appreciated!!!

edit: nevermind. spoke to soon. found it. thanks anyways.

Thanks Chris, I appreciate the welcome ... unfortunately, I spoke too soon again ... I found the instructions in my owners manual (who's have thought to look under battery?) but it didn't work. I think there is something wrong with my driver's door because the passenger door consistently triggers the interior lights and radio shut off but the driver's door does off and on... the joys of a well used car!!!

Wow Cathie, I was just doing a search for your problem and had to come back to this thread to look at the year of your vette again, then saw your new post.
Glad you fixed the passive entry problem.?
Oh and WELCOME!!!

Drivers door switch is bad, $23.60 for the switch and about 1 1/2 hr to take the door apart to replace it!!!! Just done one last week on a 94!!There is a adjustment on the switch, but that usually don't work long!!!

No it's the 10098478 switch "Courtsey Lamp & Door Ajar Switch"
!! The one that is visible on the inside of the door jam about about arm rest high below the latch!!! The one you have there is the one behind Lock tumblers at inside of the outside door handle!! When you look at it it looks like it can be changed without taking the door trim panel off,but you cant!!! There is a plate for the screws and the wiring plug won't come through the hole in the door!!
