PLEASE POST YOUR WELL WISHES TO JOHN AND HIS FAMILY VIA THE NEW THREAD:
http://www.corvetteflorida.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18340
It'll be a sticky for a while yet. All the new messages are being moved to this trhead and but this one's going to be un-stuck.
Thanks.
I found this expecially appropriate on this Veterans day:usa_flag:
Several of us here know John from the Saturday evening gathering at Andreh's Insty Tune in Tampa.
For those that do not, John (I'll not use his last name for security purposes) is a weapons instructor and works for I.C.E. (Formerly U.S. Customs) and is a former U.S. Army SF troop.
He is being deployed to the sandbox for six (6) months as a member of a contract team to train and work with indiginous forces in the region. He'll be training them in border interdiction practices, weapons and other areas of border operations as part of this team.
Without going into specifics (locations, etc) again for security purposes, lets just say that he will be going directly into harms way. He's actually replacing a member of the team that was recently wounded and sent back to the states
We were all together last night for a few hours and he had a chance to drive his C5 Z06 with the group one last time before shipping out. He ships this week.
I've assured him that I and his friends here will continue to look after his wife and family in his absence and maintain contact with them.
I'll be contacting his family at least once a week, and have my wife maintian a P.O.C. for his wife as well if they just need to talk.
He's going to be providing e-mail contact info to me as he moves along so we can stay in touch.
I was thinking that since he's going to be gone over the holidays, we could do something special for the family here. Any ideas would be appreciated and I need to find out if they're even going to be in town?
Finally, and the real purpose of this post:
Please keep John and his family in your prayers over the next six months.
Although he's really psyched and ready for this duty, you can tell that behind that calm demeanor, there's still some apprehension and concern. That makes for a much better warrior:thumbsup:
Prayers for a safe tour and safe return and Prayers for his familys peace during this separation.
Stay safe my friend and may Gods hand of safety envelop you and your team during your deployment:usa_flag:
Thanks,
Gordon
