Rain today

Looks like a strong front heading our way from the west. Supposed to be associated with predicted strong to severe storms, and 1 to 2 inches of rain.

Yeah, I'm seeing reports about rain on Monday in the Tampa area, but who knows how much there will be? :shrug01:
Andy :wavey:

Heavy rain 85 miles to my west now. Moving slow so if it holds together i would expect around 1pm or so for my area on the gulf.

Yeah, I can see that on the weather radar. Looks like you should get a good dosing.

We had heavy rain around 7 am this morning, but the rain gauge is only showing 0.53 inch. I'm beginning to doubt it's accuracy.

Looks like we may get a little more today, but not sure it will amount to much.

The forecast out to the end of the month is pretty much saying that this is the last rainfall we can expect for a while. May has typically been the driest month here.

May is bone dry most times in my area. Last May i got 2.5" the day Greg put headers on my C6 and they never got a drop in Brandon at the shop.

According to the rain gauge we got 0.62 inch of rain today.

Sun is shining now.

Looks like every bit of Florida is getting rain from this front coming through.

Temps are predicted to drop down to 43 and 42 tonight and tomorrow night.

Well, they didn't stick to that forecast for very long. Now they are calling for an 80% chance of rain on next Sunday, and 60% chance of rain on the following Monday. :face_palm_02:

We got 0.36 inch of rain overnight. They were calling for 1 to 2 inches.

The highest chance of rain over the next two weeks is only a couple of days showing a 20% chance. We may be in for another dry May up here.

Most times May is very dry and can get hot.

Yeah, we've seen it jump from Winter temps (for Florida, anyway) to full blown Summer in May, but so far the forecast temps appear to be very Spring like for at least early May.

And normally we have to be running our irrigation every day to keep the fruit trees watered properly for the fruits to form and grow.

It would be nice to get some rain at least once a week, but I'm not holding my breath for that to happen.

Been dry as a bone around here. This past Monday we had a guy come out to pump out our septic tanks and when he was digging down to them, the sand he was digging out was bone dry. Been having to water fruit trees constantly. The grass is almost history and is crunchy when we walk on it.

But looks like a change may be in the forecast. They are calling for 80 to 90 percent chance of rain Monday thru Thursday each day, and the lower percentages for the next week. So maybe we will get some appreciable precipitation at least one of those days.

I got another telescope coming Monday so that is the reason. Now if i wash the C6 it will really make it rain.

Yeah, we are having a storm door delivered by Home Depot on Monday.

What kind of scope are you getting this time?

Just a used 6" mak. I will post a pic.

How did your delivery go?

Ours didn't go so well. They put the storm door, which was simply in a cardboard box, on a flat bed 16 wheeler and then drove it all over and into Georgia before coming down here. They laid it FLAT on the floor of the flatbed, and from what I have heard, that is not good for a storm door to be laid like that for any length of time. The truck made it's first delivery just after 6am and didn't get here till about 6:15PM. So the full glass storm door was bouncing around on the bed of that truck for 12 hours. And they forgot to send the door handle that I had to order extra with that door. And that dry spell we have been having lately? It broke today, and of course it was pouring down raining when the delivery showed up at the end of our driveway. So the cardboard box was soaking wet. And already mushy and beginning to separate and coming apart. Along with the other noted issues, I just rejected the delivery entirely. Yeah the door is aluminum, but the hardware isn't and I just did not want things getting prematurely rusty after I got it hung on the front door frame. That box couldn't have been any wetter if it were under water. For the $79 delivery fee I paid, I expected better than that. I thought it would be delivered in a covered truck, not some open flat bed.

So I'm figuring it won't be any worse just picking it up in Connie's pickup truck. I contacted them via online chat and they will refund the delivery fee when we pick up the door and handle. Of course, I fully expect to show up there an no one will know a thing about this whole affair.

So we waited around all day for nothing. Well, at least I did get the oil and filter changed in the Jeep, so I did get something accomplished.

Now our biggest challenge will be to get that storm door hung while trying not to be eaten alive by the yellow flies. The last two years we were in Sanibel while the yellow flies were running rampant. It appears that they are trying to make up for lost time. They are not fooling around, and just zoom in and BITE. I had one chew on my arm and when I swatted it, it spurted out what looked like a few ounces of my blood.
