Rain today

We got 1.19" of rain today. The mosquitoes are starting to come back in droves now. Just a couple of days ago Connie and I were walking around the property and I was thinking how pleasant it was without the mosquitoes nagging us. So much for that.

I threw some mosquito dunks in our temporary pond, as it was really full from all the rain, but there are so many low areas close to the stream that fill up that it is impossible to so anything about them. So I am expecting this to get worse before it gets better. Started up one of the mosquito magnets today, and will have to get a bunch of propane tanks refilled pretty shortly.

Only got 0.14" on Monday, but that put the monthly total for August up to 17.10" of rain. :ack2:

Skeeters are plentiful all of a sudden. :ack2: :ack2: :ack2:

Had some intermittent light showers over the past few days. Today a pretty strong storm moved through but only dumped 0.68" of rain in the short time the lightning and thunder was going on.

Mosquitoes have been tapering off quite a bit, so hopefully they won't be making a comeback any time soon.

Also been seeing some lovebugs flying around, so I guess they are kicking up here and there too.

I actually almost got the C5Z out for a ride a few days ago. If the battery hadn't been dead, I actually would have gotten out of the garage. Got the trickle charger on it now, so maybe it will clear up so I can take it out and blow the cobwebs off of it.

Now with a east flow i have had around 4" the last 4 days. It is all in the flow. East flow i get rain and west i don't.

We got 0.27" of rain yesterday. We finally bought a small Weber propane grill and were able to set it up before the rain moved in.

This week should be pretty messy from hurricane Sally. Fortunately it is making landfall far to the west of us, but we will still likely get rain bands coming through.

Yesterday we got 1.18" of rain with more expected from Sally over the next several days.

We got 2.66" of rain on Tuesday. 3.96" since Sunday.

Hope this isn't going to cause another bloom of mosquitoes!

That damned AmbientWeather WS-2000 weather station I have is screwing up, so I don't know how much rain we got today. First it froze up at 1.51" while boatloads of rain came down. Then it updated to 1.80" and it's been stuck there while even more boatloads of rain is coming down.

Damned crap. Sometimes I feel like the entire world is a third world country. Just make stuff that does what it is supposed to do when you need it to be there or go home and stop stealing our money. IMHO.

I feel your pain. We have a truck specific GPS on our semi. We paid $600 for it. The darn thing freezes at times, right after you make a turn. So then you're going straight and you miss the next turn. Or it just starts recalculating while you're going down a road at random. They apparently don't update the speed limits after a construction zone has been removed. It won't recognize some addresses. Then it lost it's "voice" and stopped all audio direction. We actually bought a second GPS to serve as a backup for the first one. Another $500 for that one. I told my wife that I would be willing to pay $5000 for one that actually worked the way it's supposed to.

Sometimes I just feel like the whole damned world is going third world country on us. Many outfits have just dropped their email support, and if you try to call them, you get wait times in hours, not minutes. I think this coronavirus thing was a good excuse for many companies to drop the expense of their customer service support.

If I am understanding the data collected from the weather station correctly, we got 2.64" of rain Tuesday, and then the power dropped out on Wednesday, and when it resumed later that day, it registered 3.1" more rain. No telling how much rain came down during the power outage, but it was substantial.

Our temporary pond is filled to the gills. I threw some mosquito dunks in to try to keep the mosquito population down at least a little bit. But I'm guess we are in for another bloom of the blood suckers pretty soon. Only had two buzz me down by the pond.

I got around 12" total since June 13th. So you have had 4 times as much. We get the least amount of rain in the state on avg during the summer with a never ending west flow.

Heck, it has been more than that this year. I had to reset my weather station receiver in June or July for some reason, so the yearly total got set back to zero. From whenever that was to now, we have registered 72.69 inches of rain.

Around 25" here. Had more rain in Apr than any summer month this year.
