No, I doubt that...OUR CROSSFIRE will be in the back since it's not a Vette. "Goodness sakes..better back off a bit more there.."
Really excited about tomorrow. Damn the torpedos...full speed ahead, Captin RichZ. Glenn & Kathy

The weather is looking better. It's going to be cool and windy, but it looks like the rain should be over by the time we go.

That means y'all are supposed to bring your VETTES, y'hear? :toetap05: :D

Yeah, been looking at the radar map and it looks like a LOT of rain coming in off of the Gulf. But it is moving pretty quickly, and with any luck by mid morning it may have blown over. We're spending the night in Lady Lake, only a short distance away from Garlits, and I'm figuring on having a thoroughly WET Corvette out on the parking lot in the morning. Hope I brought enough micro fiber towels to at least wipe the standing water off of it. Probably pretty much a waste of time with the roads being wet, though. But I've got to wash it on Monday when we get back anyway, so no biggie.....

Damn...

Hey RichZ,
You're only around 5 miles from me. After ya's eat breakfast we ought to meet up, and drive to the museum together.:yesnod:

Fiancee just drove Winter Haven-to-Lakeland, and says it feels like it will be raing-soon here (Lakeland ):
the weather for Ocala for tomorrow is rain ending by 6:00 AM, 56*F, cloudy, and 30% chance of percipitation, with the chance of rain dropping to just 10% by 7:00 AM and continuing throughout the daylight hours, with partly-cloudy skies, and a high-temperature of 65*F.
:shrug01:

I will see many of you soon in just shortly over 12 hours from now at the rest-stop/weigh-station just a few miles South of Exit 341, hopefully with your Corvettes!!!!!

I postd this at 9:45 PM Saturday evening..... WHY it didn't register until 5:54 AM Sunday is

Ray - Well, the game plan is for most of us to meet up at the rest stop right below the exit for Garlits' place around 10 am and the whole group then driving up to the museum. So that means we have to drive south to catch the exit BELOW the rest stop. That is probably out of your way, I think, but are you game for that. It's 8:38am right now, so not sure breakfast is in our plans. I think they have a continental breakfast here at the motel, so we'll probably just grab something quick and hitting the road by 9.

I'm assuming everyone will be grabbing a meal somewhere after the museum tour, so we can plan on that.

Thanks!

Oh, looks like the rain has moved out, and a very strong breeze has kicked up. Should dry off the roads pretty quickly, I think.

Sorry I didn't get to meet any of you. Not too good of a turnout. I think there were 24 Vettes. I guess the weather put a lot of people off. We had 9 cars from the Citrus County Corvette Club. Anyway, here's some pics.

Meeting some of the people from the forum (and their spouses), and enjoyed the heck out of the Museum as well!:dancer01:
Saw your ride there CREWZIN, but couldn't figure out where you were.?
Everyone I met, knew me from my pic posted in my Sig (I guess).:D

Anyway, Nice to meet those of you I did, and look forward to meeting others at future events!
:hmm: Maybe...we should have a specific time to introduce our selves at the next event we all go to. Seems like we all just scatter once we get "there"...I Dunno?:thinkin:

I was VERY pleased with the number of people who came out from all over Florida! Here are some of the PEOPLE. You put names with the faces.
Here are a few of the 20 or so photos I took. Others I will try and put in the photo gallery. Glenn

If any of this member info above is wrong, PLEASE correct it for the other menbers in a post below. Thanks! Sorry I missed you Rich Z and others...Glenn:wavey:

A-7 Corsair (sp)?

We launched them all of the time off the Uss Carl Vinson (CVN-70).
They actually beat the F-14 in a dog fight (they had a demonstration out to sea one day).

The youngest member of our group had expressed an interest in owning/building a nostolgia front-engine dragster, or an old Funny Car, so I lent him my camera for the day for 'ideas'.....
here is 1 of the 2 pictures I got (the other picture, a 'brick', placed in-honor of a now-deceased Tech Inspector where I once raced in Ohio ) while @ Garlits' Museum, taken after a short lunch at SONNY'S (some of our group had already left, or gone back-inside to view other items on-display ):

Despite wet-roads in the morning, I'm told a general head-count revealed almost 50 persons in our group, and over 25 Corvettes showed-up, too:
those who couldn't bring their Corvettes graciously brought their daily-drivers, and served as 'support-vehicles'.

We had a great time! :dancer01:

Don't those Vettes look fantastic lined up in front of the Museum? :wavey:

Many thanks to those who put this together!

I tried to help park cars, and get everybody inside for a head-count, but when I 'answered Nature's Call', by the time I came back into the Gift Shop, half the group was dispersed:
I'll try to do a better-job next time.

Is anybody 'up' for a trip to Gainesville next month, for a day of spectating during the 38th running of the AC/Delco Gatornationals :
I heard some of our group, talking about going on Friday (when ticket-prices are most-reasonable, with General Admission, including a pit-pass, costing $33.00 ) to see a pair of Professional (Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, Pro Stock Motorcycle ) Qualifying Sessions, as-well-as Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, and Pro Modified Sportsman classes, too.
