So how is life on the west coast of Florida?

Just got out of a board of directors meeting (6am ugh) and we are undertaking the possibility of relocating to one of three places, San Antonio, TX, Greensboro, NC and the Tampa area. California is just not getting it for us and everyone's families that work for the state.

Right now San Antonio is first, Tampa second and Greensboro last due to the income tax.

So if anyone can give me some feed back on the area I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thank you

Tons of shops, dragstrips, road tracks, etc. in West Central FL. NO state income tax.
NO annual vehicle inspection.
Lower wages than most of the rest of the country.
A LOT of people retired from the Northeast. (That might be good or bad....depending)
Hurricane season (definitely bad)
"Love bugs" (UGH) (BAD, BAD, BAD)
some of the nicest people you ever want to meet.
Slower pace of life than the west coast (and most of the rest of the country).
and on and on and on.........

West Coast of Florida is a daily dose of paradise with no state income tax. Try it. You'll really really LIKE it. Need more info, let me know. I've been a self employed health professional here for almost 25 years.

Sorry but personally I like San Antonio ,great progressive city .I actually think summers are worse than Tampa though . Tough choice

well said Andy:thumbsup:

Hot as hell.

...and that too....

I've been here all of my 50++ years.

Never been to San Antonio, been to California and North Carolina though.

If it were not for some of the screwed up weapons law and a state income tax, NC would be a beautiful place to be:thumbsup:

Changing seasons, mountains, lakes rivers and oceanfront.

But Tampa is home and there a ton to do in and around the area.

Some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, great restaurants, world class sports, entertainment, theatre, opra, blah blah blah.....and racing within a hour or so of downtown in any direction!:D

Boating, fishing, oil skimming...ok, that was a shot....no oil yet (fingers crossed it stays that way), tons and tons for the kiddies, adults, you name it, we've probably got it.

2 seasons:

1) Hot
2 HOTTER

we do have a winter. usually about a month (+/-):lmao:

No inspection, no SMOG, no CARB ref's, no Arrrhhhhnooold...and no state income tax.

Lots of automotive goin's on year round as well:thumbsup:

Come on down, I think you'll like it.

Mark (Thor) and I will show you around (Psst! we know all the best eatin' establishments, right Ninja turtle brother?:D:rofl1:)

:rofl1::rofl1::hehehe::hehehe: You got that right Gordon.

I think a good way to think of most of Florida is like this:

364 days a year of paradise, 1 day a year of hurricane.... :hehehe:

Our last winter was a freak. Never seen 3 solid months that were so cold without a break. It was like we lived 600 miles more to the north.

Thanks for all the feed back everyone.

The board of directors are looking at a spot in Citrus County, two acres with right of first refusal for a ton more that we could possibly develop into a test track and hold races there too.

Final vote goes to the board next week.

I am hopeful for Florida.

Citrus County is just about an hour +/- up the Expressway from me. It's a beautiful area, still a lot of wooded areas, waterfront, some decent dining and still close enouhg to Tampa that you can enjoy the "big city" (if you can call us that compared to the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia?) life, yet far enough away to not have to deal with it.

A few years back, the state of florida installed a sewer pipe running between the two cities, which allows the excrement and effluent (as opposed to but inclusive of, the Affluent) to flow freely between the two locales....we call it the Veterans Expressway:lmao:

Seriouly though, Citrus county is beautiful and the boating, fishing, snorkling, camping.....well.....you get the picture:thumbsup:

Let us know how it turns out?

Sweet. Would love a track a bit closer than Sebring and a lot closer than Gainsville.

I certainly love Florida. I do have to say San Antonio would be a close second. Only place I'd ever live in Texas again.

Good luck on wrapping up the spot in Citrus County. You should be able to still get some decent tax breaks too!

Shadow, I can't believe you forgot to mention that Tampa also has the Mons Venus....:wavey:

...and the 2001....and the Playboy Club,...and Diamond Dolls, .....
