Got the Contributing Memberships stuff finally worked out and made up a thread as a sort of "How-To" to help people figure out how to participate. So if you need help figuring it out, here's the thread you need to take a look at -> http://www.corvetteflorida.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3581
Thank you, everyone!
Rich Z.
I do not have a corvette yet. I feel I want a c-5 automatic. My question is, which one? Is there one better than the rest? I have been looking at a 2004. Would app. any input. Thanks, John
I wanted to take advantage of living in sunny Fl and be able to drop the top of beautiful days plus i never owned a vert before, so i decided to get the convertible.
I can vouch for a Z06, they are lighter and come with more HP than the other Vettes from the factory, but the top is not removable like the "targa" top Coupe or the Convertible. That is the only thing I miss. I wish I could remove the top on occasion.
Just look at the 2000 and newer. The ZO6 is top of the line, but only come in a 6-speed. For Autos, they are all fine. Always go with the newest you can afford unless you just find a song of a deal of course. Personally, I'd look at the 03's as they are the 50th anniversary cars. For FL I'd certainly look into a vert as well. They are only manual tops, so you have to do it yourself, but it only takes 20 secs. Good luck on your search!
I just bought my first corvette a month ago and it is a Z06. I love it. You can't go wrong with the power, but if you are just looking to cruise then the convertable is a good choice too.
Good luck with your search! I have an automatic, bought it because I thought it would be easier in traffic and that the wifey had back fusion surgery so it would be easier for her to drive. The irony is that the car is only driven occasionally and the wifey , who has owned many stick shift cars, has never even driven this vette (4+ years later). Soooooo, for me the next vette will have 3 peddles again!
Well now a new member of our club---welcome.
Since you said you were interested in a auto, I would look at 2001
and up. These have 350 hp , the older models are 345 hp. Trust me
you will here alot of folks tell you what they have is best, do not
listen to them. You must make your own goals (options) and go
from there.
You need to think about what you are going to do with your vette.
Show it,race it, or drive it for pleasure. Do you intend to keep it
stock or mod the hell out of it. All questions you must answer by
yourself. Give it some thought, there are alot of good deals now,
and you should end up with a beauty. Good luck.
