Yes I know of this. But this engine had one fatal flaw (for what I wanted). It is NOT a 427 cid engine.......... THAT is what I want. And this is the major reason I did not consider buying a ZR-1.

How close is that crack to where they drilled, tapped, filled, and redrilled the "wrong" intake bolt holes? Could this have possibly been done when they corrected THAT mistake?

I don't think it matters Andy. They obviously have no quality control and are only looking at their profit margin. What reputable company would have even sent out the heads with those threads, or I should say lack of, to the customer in the first place?

I would bet money Rich is over there already.

Wow Rich, sorry to hear.

I assure you, that if LME does not make this right, that that will be made very clear on virtually every forum I am a member of, as I have many friends across the country in the LSx community. I noticed you saw the LME thread on corvetteforum, and have to tell you that I always wanted either them or HKE to build me a motor, it seems they may have slipped from where they once were and are heading downhill.

If that was casting issue at World Products all I can say is WTF, you buy the best of the best and get that? Unacceptable. :NoNo:

I think that was the first motor Chris got from LME since he picked them up as his supplier for built motors. I'm guessing they no longer will be.

I agree. The pen is mightier than the sword. If they give Chris and Rich a hard time LME does not stand a chance of winning. Rich wanted to document his build and those photos tell the whole story. Little did he know what a great idea that would be.

Thanks.

Well one good thing about this is that now Chris can go full steam ahead and get your car done for you.

I think the best thing for me to do at this point is to refrain from my own personal commentary and opinion about this situation, and stick to facts.. There is a good possibility that this may wind up in court if LME doesn't come up with a suitable solution.

Chris talked to Bryan this morning and said that there are two options available at this point: (1) a full refund for the engine and it will be shipped back to LME, or (2) another replacement engine is built for me that does NOT contain any World Products parts in it.

I hope to hear back from LME by later today.

Do you know if the cam that was supposed to arrive came or not? Not sure if you were there today or not. Waiting for it to get to him so it can get done, should have dropped shipped.

Which option would you prefer the most?

Sorry, but there really wasn't any reason for me to run out to Chris's today. Nor any time in the near future, I'm afraid. Unless I need to run that throttle body out to him if my LS6 goes back into the car.

Which option would you prefer the most?

I really don't know at this point. I'm just hoping it hasn't tainted the feeling I used to get whenever I would get behind the wheel of my car. When I was a small child I used to love the hell out of marshmallow filled donuts. But one day I ate so many of them, I threw up. To this day, I can't stand the smell or sight of them. I hope this isn't going to be the case with my C5Z......

Damn Rich, that just sucks. Sounds like they'll take care of you though...just take your time and talk it out with LME. I think at this point, it'd be hard for me to not just take the refund and look for another engine builder. Then, start over later in the year or early 2011. Just drive your can and like you said, make sure she doesn't make you sick.

OK, here's the latest in this saga.

Chris talked to Bryan at LME today, and Bryan has offered to refund my money completely on the engine, and build me a completely new engine using a RHS block. I'm not sure of what brand of heads, but they will NOT be World Products. But I believe the heads will be more expensive than the Warhawk heads.

So the two questions I need answered are (1) How much more this new engine will cost compared to what I already spent, and (2) what kind of time frame we are talking about.

Once I know those answers, I will then decide what to do.

I guess the criteria I am weighing the most will be how much longer I will have to go without having my car to drive.

But I'm also really relieved. I thought I had a court battle ahead of me.

Thank you, Chris, for going to bat for me. And thank you, Bryan, for taking the high road with this problem.

your welcome Rich !

Bob,
No.... the offer is a full refund on the Warhawk engine and for us to purchase a different engine using the RHS block and which ever heads we decide on.

Rich would have to pay the difference in the cost of materials, which is the difference in price of the Warhawk Block vs the RHS block and the Warhawk Heads vs the mystery heads that have yet to be determined.

If Rich does in deed decide he still wants to do all this...:shrug01:

I am glad this looks like this is gonna be a quick and favorable resolve for once...WE BOTH NEED IT ! :ack2:

Now I'm confused. Didn't you say they were refunding your money and building a new engine for you?

I guess it did sound like that when I wrote it. I wish.....

But no, that's not the way it will be handled. I think the option is for them to refund the money to me, and I can then choose to have them build the new engine, or I can just give them the go ahead and pay the difference.

I'm sure Chris will be checking prices on the RHS block and the heads, once we know the manufacture, so see what the price difference will be. Of course, I'm sure LME gets a better price break on stuff like that then we could. But still, as long as it's not a lot more expensive and the time frame isn't excrutiating, I will likely go this route. Heck, I've come this far. It would be a shame to spend all that time on this rocky road and then have nothing to show for it when I hit the pavement.

Rich
How much HP are you looking to make??
they are making over 1,000 HP with Ls blocks, forged internals.
so how many???:shrug01:

RHS says they don't have LS style heads available.

Damn, I feel like I am starting this all over again from scratch..... :nonod:

I really didn't set a target number. I just knew I wanted a 427, with all forged components so I could let the turbos wind out to their full potential. Of course I wanted more power for my money, but seriously, do you think I will be able to tell the difference between 700 and 900 rwhp? Might burn the rear tires down to the rims quicker, but that's about it. I will be interested to KNOW how much power it is producing, of course, but realistically, I don't really care what that number is as long as it is a noticeable, seat of the pants, improvement over what I already have.

No, I don't know why I am doing this either..... :shrug01: Just my last hurrah going into retirement, I suppose...
