C5 427 forged motor?

Whats that old saying Rich? Fool me once, Fool me twice...RIGHT!

So my friend, what is your flavor now? Put all the BS aside, and getting down and dirty.....what's your resolve now? You want ole Johns help or do ya have a handle on it for where your headed? You know Rich.......there's a ton of people I know in every aspect of Corvette both new and old that I can get for you who are Pro's at this and have the credentials to back them up.
Yours for the asking my friend.

Gotta sign off and head back to Daytona. Will report Tommorow Guyz.:yesnod:

Thank you for the offer. I think if LME is going to bite the bullet on this and stand beside both Chris and I as to what we want to happen, then I have to stand by them and let them build me another engine. I believe that is only fair. Chris has been nothing but supportive the entire time, and has bent over backwards to make sure I am pleased (in a relative sense) with how things progress in spite of all the set backs. So I still have confidence in Chris pulling this all together for me and as soon as possible have me back on the street with my car. I sincerely doubt that neither of us is at all happy with the way things have gone up to this point.

So right now, I'm just waiting to hear what LME can do in order to get another non-World Products engine headed my way.

I didn't miss it. I didn't know they were willing to eat the cost of the heads also. I was looking at the date of the email and thought WP was throwing a wrench into your new plans.

LME must be a real stand up company to do that. I need to look them up on the net. It will work out Rich, just hang in there.

I actually got that email from Billy Mitchell Jr. before I got word about LME standing by me and Chris with this. I didn't want to jeopardize Bryan at LME's chances at negotiations with World Products if they were going to try to resolve them between them before resolving what to do about MY end of it. But from what I understand, LME is just going to bypass WP completely and take them out of the equation. So once I learned that, I was free to post that email showing Mr. Mitchell's customer relation skills and why I had resolved to in no way promote their products within my vehicle.

Yes, I do believe LME is going the extra mile with this. I think both Chris and I were surprised, although pleasantly so, at the response he got back from Bryan about what they were going to offer to satisfy their customer.

Gotta throw this out here fella's.

Wanted you to know I've followed your venture from the start, some very high moments and for sure some pretty low and you've been a CHAMP throughout the ordeal.
I had to go and check the number's on my Mallett which as you know is a 427 575 HP LS2 punched out I believe. Most of all curious to the heads stamp.
X2314R. X=427 block heads 2314 serail number of my car, R race prepaired.
Chuck Mallett built. 575 is nothing horsepower anymore. Neither is 510 tq.
It's still plenty of kick in the pants though for me.
I don't know Extreme except what I read and all is good.
I'm not sure but I believe that BoLaws here in Orlando has and builds 427's.
They have for years held many top NHRA titles, as well as NASCAR , and IMSA road racing titles as far as engines are concerned. Bo's 67 vette broke the Gator National record 4 times in one day. His reputation is the best in most all of motorsport's, and Hall of Fame inductee as well.
My Spice GTP engine is a 383 850 hp pro built LaZano Brothers built, and again reputation on the pro circuit for years with IMSA.
Just throwing all this out there in case you continue to search for some of the best performance BB engine's.
Chuch Mallett has gone belly up, so all us owner's are now screwed as far as value with our corvettes.

Just getting home from Rolex 24 Daytona.
Winner overall Daytona Prototype (DP) was Porsche powered Riley.
Best of all it was a Cayan Porsche 5.0 liter V/8 and the builder of this superb enine? None other than old time engine IMSA GTP builder BEN LaZano of LaZano Brother's Porting.
(and if you go back to page 38 in this thread, or) read above.......my Chevy Spice GTP engine is a LaZano Brother's built.
So what is so cool about this win win today? A very low dollar team up against huge money and huge driver's and engines that represent 60K minimum. Don't know what your 427 cost Rich, but LBP would have run about 32K.............SB2 Hendrick engine.......40K up.
VERY VERY cold there today w/ 45 MPH winds temps during the day at 42 degree's.
:yesnod:

I believe my engine is in the 17K to 18K range. I can't see spending much more than that based on what I would use it for. Which, in reality, is just bragging rights....... :hehehe:

That's cool too Rich

Hey for a street screamer.....that's some pretty good muscle for the money.
And by the way Rich, the Daytona DP's.........they are just under 500 HP.
And in Grand AM racing, the GT's haven't the power of the Street Vettes either.
Why I like and stick close to IMSA racing.

In your case Rich, everything will turn out Ok.

Oh yes, before I forget, don't forget to get a bigger racing radiator for that 427. I know, you've already got that covered......right!

John

Actually I had Chris put in a bigger radiator a while back. Along with the 160 degree thermostat. Dropped coolant temps significantly, btw... I highly recommend anyone to do that if their car runs a bit on the warm side. I know everyone says 217 degrees at cruising speed for a C5 is OK, but I just didn't like it much.

See I knew you already had the Radiator change, LOL

My 427 at cruiz runs about 178 to 180 . I don't know about you, but hardly do I even use 6th gear. And for that matter I hardly use the A/C. The heat doesn't effect me, the cold is another story, LOL.
Meant to ask What exhaust do you run? I have the LG 1 7/8 LT's, w/ Bassani 3"1/2" Beautiful sound, but would prefer BB. Not sure if I've heard my radio or my wife for that matter.

I run a 160 year round. But I tune accordingly. I've read many articles that say the oil temp has to be over 200 deg to burn out contaminates.

My street tune I run the stock settings or close to it for the fans. On and off. At the track depending on ambient temp I have both fans come on at the same time. Usually I set them to come on at 160 or 165. This keeps my engine temp at 175 and my tranny above 140. I need consistent temps so the car will run consistently at the track.

I think oil temp is far more important than engine temp.

So here's the latest.......

LME can build me the new engine at a few dollars less than the Warhawk block and heads were costing. So at least there won't be more out of pocket expenses involved with the new engine.

The new block will be from RHS and the heads from Performance Induction. Pretty much everything else will remain the same as what I had in the Warhawk block and heads. Except we decided to go to 10:1 compression instead of 9.5:1, thinking it may give somewhat better low end power that way. It will also give more overall power naturally aspirated that the turbos can amplify when they kick in when the revs build up enough.

The new engine will take 4 to 5 weeks to build. So with shipping and then putting everything together in the car, I'm guessing we are talking about mid to end of March before I have my car back on the road. :( Not exactly what I had in mind when I first dropped my car off at Chris's shop, but I'm sure you've read the saga that has taken place since then....

There's the answer I was looking for. 2-21/2 months for a build installed. Thanks Rich. Why not get their heads also?

For some really odd reason RHS (Racing Head Service) does not make heads for the GM LS platform..... :shrug01:

Hah! Interesting.... I emailed them and they stated specifically that they do not have any heads for the LS platform. Even with the link you sent me, however, they still don't show LS7 heads there, which will be needed to work with that FAST intake manifold I already have for the build.

Actually when you go to their main page on their site, there is no link to LS style heads that I have been able to stumble upon... The ONLY way I can get to a page on their site with those LS style heads is via their search function which takes me to a page in their storefront that apparently can't be gotten to any other way from their website. So my guess is that for whatever reason, they are not marketing LS style heads, even though obviously there are one or more pages on their site hidden from direct links for those heads. Whether that is a temporary omission or something that they completely dropped from their product line, I just don't know. :shrug01:

I'm guessing after all the issues that we had with the Warhawk heads, Bryan at LME isn't about to get heads for my new engine that will have quality related issues.

PMJ says they're not ready yet. Sure is strange because if you go to that link you can buy them. Having said that, I did not go all the way after I hit the purchase button. Next step is to select the head which I didn't do.

Yeah, when you click on the BUY NOW link, you get a page that merely says "Category 'GMIII' is not available at this time. " So perhaps this is a future offering they are working on. :shrug01: Wonder why they aren't working on LS7style heads too?

Like you said, LME probably knows what's best. They better! :D

Rich, can I make some calls for you?

I'd like to contact Ben LaZano of LBP porting with your OK.
just to see what they have or who they know and recommend.
