Rain today

Well, ABOUT TIME!! Only got 0.42" of rain today but a lot better than the zero rain we have gotten for over the past month.

The forecast for any rain doesn't really look good for the next 10 days, though, so things will dry up again pretty quickly.

We got another 0.11" of rain after midnight, so the total overnight is 0.53". Half an inch of rain is better than nothing. Slight chance of more rain early next week, but not holding my breath for that to happen.

Had a couple of storm fronts head this way from the west, but they evaporated right before getting here. So we got nothing from any of them. Forecast for rain looks equally bleak out through mid November. Guess I'll be watering citrus trees for the duration.

Rain for October, 2022 = 0.53"

Total rain for 2022 so far = 66.83"

If it brings rain, bring it on! Been two months with nothing more than a half inch of rain. Maybe I should have grown cactus instead of citrus trees.

Looks like the windspeeds are predicted to be relatively mild. Perhaps just at tropical storm levels. Hopefully, anyway. 2022 can't get over with soon enough for me. Worst year EVER in my life.

Just got back from running Connie up to her cardiologist appointment in Tallahassee. Not too bad around here. Some rain (0.70" so far) and windy, but not especially so. No worse than just a typical thunderstorm. But the center is still heading this way, so things may change some over the next few hours.

Just got done with dinner after returning home from our Tennessee to Orlando/Lakeland run. I drove last night and picked up some gust in south Georgia around 30 mph but my wife took over around 7:00 this morning and she got spotty heavy rain and gust to 50 mph on the Turnpike and I-4.

The rain wasn't too bad, I think the heaviest fell before we got there because the ditches were overflowing. The best part was that there was almost NO TRAFFIC! We ran into more rain in Lakeland than we did in the Orlando area and saw a few downed trees along with debris in the roadways.

We were glad to get home though. Saw several wrecks along the way. People don't know how to drive anymore. We even had a Loomis Armored Car overturned on highway 84 near Quitman, Georgia this evening as we were headed home.

I did hear two people died as a result of downed powerlines in Florida but overall I think it was a pretty mild storm, at least compared to Ian.

Several semi's got blown over in the Jacksonville area including one on the Dames Bridge. It looked like they may have gotten the worst of the rain too, at least from what I saw on radar this morning.

Still raining lightly outside right now. So far we got 1.26" of rain. I expected we would get more from the storm, but I guess this was more of a media event. Perhaps to help take the focus off of some of the nonsense taking place at the voting polls. At least a magic batch of miracle votes hasn't shown up (yet) to take down DeSantis. I was truly expecting that to happen.
