Connie and I took a drive to St. Augustine this past weekend to check out the parking situation as well as to look over the Inn. The place looks really nice. Very clean and cozy looking. We couldn't get in to see the rooms, of course, since they were all booked except one, but the one we did go in looked real comfortable. I think it's going to be fun staying there.
Last time I checked, they still have rooms available for the 3rd and 4th if anyone is interested. The Christmas lights will be up all over the city, so it should be beautiful....
As for parking, well, it's not perfect, but it will do. Some of the spots are going to be under trees, so bear that in mind. Maybe that time of the year there won't be too much problem with sap dripping from the branches. But trees are just about everywhere in that town, so it's kind of an unavoidable situation. The spot we are going to be assigned is thankfully without trees, but it's kind of exposed, so there is a tradeoff, I guess. Still not too bad, I think.
Connie and I checked out the eats at Osteen's again and the shrimp were EXCELLENT. Couldn't believe we were able to park right in front of the door and literally walked right in to be seated. The place was crowded, but miraculously enough, there was a two seater table available, and everyone waiting had a larger party. They all probably thought we owned the place by the way we just zipped into parking and then walked in immediately for a table.
We were going to spend the night at a hotel north of the city, and since the Country Inn & Suites looked pretty nice, we stopped in there. But that was short lived. The room was the pits. Mold above the doorway, musty smelling, the smoke alarm broken off of the wall, and to top that all off, the shower head was broken off of the way in the shower. Plus it didn't look all that clean either. So we just packed up our things again and took it all out to the car (took the C5Z) and went to the front desk to tell them we weren't staying there. So we wound up driving home that night.
Saw quite a few vettes on the road, so hopefully some saw the CorvetteFlorida decals and will stop by to take a look here. Sure exchanged a bunch of waves with them all...
But anyway, to repeat, if you can make it the first week in December to St. Augustine, think about joining us. This may become a yearly thing and perhaps set the standard for doing something similar at other towns across Florida. CorvetteFlorida Excursions or something. Who knows what it could grow into over time?
