What would you like to see the C7 Generation Corvette morphed into? Attach whatever you think Chevy/GM ought, or should, take the Vette to! Opinions welcomed on the attached, or attach your own findings!

:iagree:

But referencing the red one, I don't see those fat rear tires on a regular C7. Maybe the new Z06 (or whatever it is going to be called). Also, I think the front license plate area would need to go as well. :shrug01:

Sure wish they would come out with a retro C2 with modern electronics and drive train components......

Gerald Copeland's '62 Corvette
It Had a Total Makeover, and Has Never Been Younger

By Ronnie Hartman

It’s hard to believe that this gorgeous ’62 was described as “rough but driveable” when Gerald Copeland decided to take it home two years ago, but he’d been down that road before. He knew he could resurrect its lost luster. We were wowed by his silver ’62 a couple of years ago (“Starlit ’62,” July 2000) after he’d worked his magic on it.

Gerald doesn’t restore his Corvettes to attain Duntov or Benchmark awards—he does these projects to please himself alone. In the case of this ’62, it was to please his wife, Diane. She’ll be the one collecting compliments as she drives this superb Corvette.

When Gerald started this project, everything went according to schedule because he knew what to expect. He, his son Daniel, and a few friends made short work of it. The only outside help was with the painting and seat re-covering. It took just about a year to effect the changes. The high-tech rolling chassis came from Corvette Central. Gerald chose it because it didn’t require running negative offset wheels, as with a C4 suspension.

Ram Jet fuel injection has replaced carburetion. Gerald installed a ’77 Corvette shifter. Rear suspension is a four-bar setup with adjustable coilovers. Scott Whidby did the PPG Scarlet Red paintwork. Gerald added rack-and-pinion steering, air conditioning, digital gauges, and a tilt wheel. Wheels are Billet Specialties (18x7 front and 10x10 rear) wrapped with Michelin tires.

Diane will probably do most of the driving when they take their newest Corvette to shows. Like their others, this one will undoubtedly bring home some awards. And, like their others, it will remain in their custody indefinitely. Of course, there will be other projects. Gerald says, “I try to get better with each car I do. Considerable time was spent sanding the firewall and inner fenders to make them look as good as the body. The frame has been powdercoated, and the suspension, exhaust, and driveshaft have been ceramic-coated. The cowl hood was necessary to clear the engine, and the tilt wheel is out of an early Buick. This really helps entering and exiting the car.” His final pronouncement is that “performance is great with this setup, as is driveability and braking. Its looks, performance, and handling are about as good as it gets!”

Actually, I think I would prefer the midyear body styling. Something like a '66....

The red one for sure!

There used to be a company in Tampa that advertised retro 56 T-Birds(fiberglass). They came with a new model year engine and drivetrain complete with ford warranty. I can think of several cars that would sell if someone followed this lead. Corvettes, 57 Chevy's, etc. Apparently the manufacturers are aware of the American appetite for vintage cars, what with the new Mustang, forthcoming Camaro, and the Challenger. Can more be coming?

Maybe GM, but most likely the aftermarket guys, will built Retro-like cars to celebrate 50 years of muscle cars like the "789"

Or keep coming out with retro-Vettes for matching 50 year cars like the one shown next to mine! :yesnod:

P.S. Ignore the date of the picture...I was in a Vette fog instead of paying attention to the camera. The date taken was 31 March 2007, in Orlando.

Oh yea! Excellent 3d of what a C7 could look like...very "Vettish" indeed! That low and wide look should be highly considered for the C7...which I now understand has happened to the '08 Z06!:dancer01:

And the 3D garage?!! Want that too!! :hehehe:

If you haven't already, and the drawings are not copyrighted, you should forward them to GM/Chevy!!

The guy that did those CAD Images is designing a Body Kit for the C6 exactly like the black coupe you see! :dancer01: . He said it will be ready for SEMA Next year for its unveiling. SAVE YOUR $$$, I'm holding off on the ZO6 Wide Body kit until I see this in the "flesh" or should I say plastic? fiberglass? or Carbon Fiber!

Winding Road magazine is putting this out...a mid engine C7 that keeps nearly the lines of the Z06 or present. Not bad, but will we in the Corvette Nation ever accept a mid-engine??

IMO- The Yellow C7 in that pic is Taking on the look of the Ferrari F430 Except "angular" instead of "rounded" Design edges. But a Mid-engine- Supercharged LS9-Capable 650 + hp Holy Sh*t That will be one Badass Bowtie :dancer01: AND READ EXPENSIVE$$$$$ ! Glad I have my C6 cause the C7 will eliminate me from the Corvette Buying segment. Oh well-I love my C6 :peelout 1:

An excerpt given to me by a friend, taken from GM's announcement of future planning. (no photos available) Some of you may have already seen this, not sure of the release date.

Corvette: GM will market a limited-edition 2009 Corvette producing about 650 hp. The model will have styling cues that separate it from other Corvettes. Pricing will approach $100,000, about a $30,000 step up from the highest-horsepower Vette today - the 2007, 505-hp Z06. Production of the redesigned Corvette is to start in April 2012 for the 2013 model year. Three design proposals have been selected; the final decision is expected to be made this summer. Contrary to some reports, a mid-engine model is not planned; the front-engine layout will be maintained

Chevrolet has got to know, or realize, that a mid-engine could/would not be accepted by the Corvette Nation? :banghead:

I certainly hope not...IMHO the Corvette has what can be considered one the most recognized names and respected cars on the planet! And for good reason...for it has withstood the test of time for the following reason!! :yesnod:

It has a nitch that says only Corvette. And that includes never resorting to tricks and the 'flavor of the day' mentality to remain attractive to any age group. Mid-engine should never see Corvette attached to the concept. The car stands alone...but allows technology to keep it active, modern and safe! :toetap05:

Wrap your ass in glass!!:dancer01:
